Meaning of GYROTONIC® Sunara

The word “Gyrotonic” is a combination of two root words:

Gyro: This comes from the Greek word “gyros,” meaning “circle,” “spiral,” or “ring.” It refers to the circular and spiraling movements that are characteristic of Gyrotonic exercises.

Tonic: This word is an adjective that means “of or relating to muscular tone” or “producing or increasing muscular tone.” It implies that Gyrotonic exercises help to strengthen and tone the muscles.

Therefore, “Gyrotonic” can be understood as a term that describes a system of exercise that utilizes circular and spiraling movements to improve muscular tone, strength, flexibility, and overall well-being.
